Our statement of faith: the biblical convictions that shape everything we do.
At Heritage Baptist Church, every conviction we hold flows from a single source: the Holy Scriptures. We believe the Bible is the plenary, verbally inspired, infallible Word of God, and our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
We believe the Holy Scriptures are the plenary Word of God, verbally inspired and wholly without error. We believe God has perfectly and infallibly preserved His Word in the King James Version of the Bible, our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
We believe in one eternal God revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: three distinct Persons but without division of nature, essence, or being. He is holy, omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent.
We believe Jesus Christ is the second Person of the Triune God, who became man by the miracle of the Virgin Birth. He lived a sinless life, gave Himself in death upon the cross bearing the sin of the world, rose bodily from the grave, and ascended to the right hand of the Father.
We believe the Holy Spirit convicts the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment. He regenerates, indwells, seals, and anoints every believer at salvation. The evidence of the Spirit's fullness is boldness to witness for Jesus Christ.
We believe salvation is the free gift of God, received only by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. It is by grace through faith alone, not of works, and is eternal and secure in Christ.
We believe believers should evidence their salvation through righteous living, separation from the world, and modesty in appearance and dress. The Christian life is marked by a growing love for God, His Word, and the lost.
We believe the local church is a body of baptized believers organized to carry out the Great Commission. The church observes two ordinances: Baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper as a memorial of Christ's death. Leadership consists of a pastor and deacons.
We believe in the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ. We believe in the bodily resurrection of all people: the saved to eternal life with God, and the unsaved to eternal judgment. Heaven and Hell are real, literal places.
The Bible says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
Salvation is not earned through good deeds or religious ritual. It is received by placing your personal faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
